Angelina Jolie is joyful in Africa after fresh Brad Pitt humiliation

Angelina Jolie was the picture of serene generosity this week after a fresh knife-twist in her children’s estrangement from their father Brad Pitt.

‘Brangelina’ biologically conceived their daughter Shiloh, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 18, and also adopted Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, and Zahara, 21. In recent years, a growing number of them have dropped their father’s surname.

He was subjected to a new humiliation this summer when Maddox and Zahara took out ads in the Los Angeles Daily Journal that ran four times apiece, announcing they had filed legal peтιтions to switch from Jolie-Pitt to Jolie.

In the wake of the swipe, Jolie, 51, who has cultivated an exalted reputation as a jet-setting celebrity humanitarian, surfaced near the Rwandan capital Kigali.

She posted an effusive Instagram caption about her visit to the Imboni cooperative farm, which she described as being ‘run collectively’ by its female laborers, many of whom survived the genocide perpetrated by the Hutus against the Tutsis in 1994.

The accompanying album included a pH๏τo of Jolie beaming and flinging her arms into the air as she danced with a group of the women she met there.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Jolie and Pitt for comment.

Next to Jolie in the pH๏τo was her ‘dear friend’ Giles Duley, a celebrated English documentary pH๏τographer who has also snapped a variety of world-famous music acts ranging from Oasis to Mariah Carey to Lenny Kravitz.

In her new Instagram post, Jolie wrote that Duley’s Legacy of War Foundation ᴀssists the Imboni collective by purchasing arable land that it ‘returns’ to ‘survivors of conflict, supporting them to become profitable, climate-smart farmers.’

Jolie, who adopted Zahara from Ethiopia, has longstanding ties to the African continent that have occasionally drawn withering scrutiny. 

She and Pitt traveled to Namibia for Shiloh’s birth in 2006 and had the government enforce a no-fly zone over the area where they were staying.

Heightening the media frenzy around the proceedings, an official at Namibia’s embᴀssy in the US let slip that they would only ‘issue visas to journalists to go to Namibia and cover Angelina and Brad if they have consent from the parties.’

‘Brangelina’ landed in the eye of a storm of opprobrium, intensified by a local human rights group’s claims that the couple’s security detail and Namibian police had conducted door-to-door searches for paparazzi, per South Africa’s Mail & Guardian.

This summer, Zahara and Maddox’s latest newspaper ads served as the latest expansion of the widening chasm between Pitt and his six children.

Shiloh legally dropped her father’s family name last year, while Zahara and Vivienne also informally went from Jolie-Pitt to Jolie before Zahara made her change official.

‘Brangelina’ went public as a couple in 2006 and married in 2014 before splitting in 2016, triggering a bitter feud in the courts over property and child custody; pictured in 2009 

The Daily Mail has confirmed that Maddox submitted paperwork this May to have Pitt taken off his double-barreled surname for ‘personal’ reasons, formalizing a swap that he had already put into practice months earlier.

In his mother’s new French movie Couture, which was released this February and also starred Louis Garrel, he was credited merely as Maddox Jolie.

Two years earlier, he had been referred to by the name Maddox Jolie-Pitt in the credits of Jolie’s Oscar-nominated Maria Callas biopic Maria.

‘Brangie’ plunged into a seething feud after their split, and over the course of their divorce battle she accused him of being abusive, which he firmly denied.

The former couple infamously fell in love during the making of their 2005 movie Mr & Mrs Smith while he was still married to his first wife Jennifer Aniston. 

Jolie, the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, maintained that she did not have an affair with Pitt while he was with Aniston.

‘To be intimate with a married man, when my own father cheated on my mother, is not something I could forgive,’ she said on Today. ‘I could not look at myself in the morning if I did that. I wouldn’t be attracted to a man who would cheat on his wife.’

Fans around the world began siding with ‘Team Jolie’ or ‘Team Aniston,’ as a furor erupted over the love triangle with Pitt at its center.

Pitt and Jolie married in 2014 but split two years later, triggering an explosive legal battle over money and custody that rages on to this day. 

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016, after a mysterious dispute on a private plane in the presence of Maddox, who was then 15.  

Early in the proceedings, the FBI looked into allegations that Pitt became ‘physical’ with Maddox on the jet, but the investigation was closed with no charges filed. 

Jolie allegedly filed a Freedom of Information Act request as ‘Jane Doe’ in 2021 related to the FBI documents about the fateful 2016 plane ride.

She apparently dropped the action against the FBI on September 25, 2024, via legal documents obtained by In Touch magazine.

However, in court papers she had filed that April in a property dispute, Jolie accused Pitt of having been abusive to her ‘well before’ the plane ride. 

Meanwhile Pax suffered a terrifying accident when he crashed his dirt bike into a car in Los Angeles while not wearing a helmet in July 2024.

Sources informed the Daily Mail that Jolie was ‘by his side in hospital,’ while Pitt was ‘distraught and worried over Pax’s accident, but he is unable to reach him.’

The accident came four years after Pax unleashed an explosive social media tirade calling his father a ‘world class a**hole’ and a ‘terrible and despicable person’ who had caused his four younger children to ‘tremble in fear.’

Jolie and Pitt are also still entangled in a legal conflict over the Chateau Miraval, the winery they once shared as a couple in the South of France.

The feud over the property stems from the fact Jolie sold her half to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler for $62 million in 2021, amid her divorce proceedings.

Shefler presides over a vast international alcohol empire including Stolichnaya and once sold a superyacht to Saudi crown prince Mohammad bin Salman. 

Pitt sued Jolie over the Chateau Miraval sale, insisting she was contractually obligated to obtain his consent as co-owner before offloading her portion.

Jolie has brought up her abuse allegations and custody battle over the course of her years-long battle of wills with Pitt over the winery.

She has asked Pitt to ‘end the fighting’ and drop the Chateau Miraval lawsuit against her so that their family can have a chance to ‘heal.’
